How the transom gets rebuilt
The motor comes off, the skin is opened, and every bit of wet or rotted core is removed. New core is bedded in resin, glassed to the hull and stringers, then faired and finished so it looks factory. Nothing gets glassed over a wet substrate to hide it.
Signs you have transom rot
Flex when the engine is trimmed, cracking around the motor bolts, water weeping from drain holes, or a spongy feel when you push on the transom cap. Catch it early and the repair stays contained; ignore it and it spreads into the stringers and floor.
